DESA – Dubrovnik has started with implementation of the project “Urban Planning 4 Citizens” (Spatial planning for citizens), funded by the European Union under IPA Component I – Transition Assistance and Institution Building, through the call for proposals IPA 2011 Strengthening the role of civil society in enhancing transparency and good governance in public administration of the Republic of Croatia. The contracting authority for the implementation of the project is the Central Finance and Contracting Agency, and the overall value of the project amounts 625,000.00 kn.
The main objective of the project is to contribute to the strengthening of dialogue and participatory democracy among civil society organizations, public and local authorities in the preparation and development of spatial plans. Through 12 months of the project we will inform the public about the role and importance of regional plans, enable civil society organizations to work with new technologies, we will strengthen the communication of civil society organizations and local governments in the process of developing regional plans and to establish Urban Planning Portal that will facilitate citizens viewing regional plans and realize the possibilities of continuous transmission of the request, comments and suggestions for a particular area.
The project is implemented in Dubrovnik – Neretva County, Zagreb County and the City of Zagreb. The project partners are the Institute for GIS – Zagreb, Dubrovnik – Department of Urban Planning, Spatial Planning and Environment, Municipality of Jakovlje and CEKTRA Institute from Maribor. The project partners are the Institute for Spatial Planning of DNC and Eurogi – the European Association of GIS associations (European Umbrella Organization for Geographic Information).
